Rescuing a dog from Fukushima: costs...

Rescuing a dog from Fukushima costs approximately $350 (30,000yen).

This includes...

  • Capturing the dog in Fukushima, taking it to ARK Tokyo, flying it from Tokyo Haneda to Osaka Itami airport, transporting it to our ARK Kansai Refuge.
  • Medical check from our vet (some of the animals are in very poor condition, and very few are neutered.)
  • Dog registration (3000yen!)
  • Maintaining our team in Fukushima

Accommodation costs are extra. Food, medical care, accommodation and staff costs are about $1800/year/ animal. (150,000yen)

TOHOKU-PACIFIC QUAKE ANIMALS

Our priority now is on housing the remaining 16 dogs from the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, many of whom have owners, but who are unable to take them back. The area (land) where the Earthquake dogs are now housed, has been rented for many years but now due to changing circumstances of the owners, is due to be returned to them. That means there is some urgency in building new kennels for them in Sasayama. Your continuing support is appreciated.
