HELP for the ANIMALS made HOMELESS by the EARTHQUAKE and TSUNAMI (25)

Update 6th June 2011

Wonderful reunion party for dogs adopted from ARK took place yesterday in Sasayama, the site of our future shelter and sanctuary. The construction people had just about got the fence in place and the weather was perfect; cloudy so not too hot and no rain. Thanks to all our ARK staff, especially Kayano san who organised the event and judged the competitions; quiz, egg and spoon race, yotte-yotte ( first dog back to owner) and best trick.

130 adults plus 11 kids and 74 dogs took part including three Tohoku dogs; Brave, Safe and Sound, now being fostered until we have news of their owners or until the three months waiting period is reached so we can offer them for adoption. Seeing how happy they are with their foster families, I can guess who will want to adopt them!

TOHOKU-PACIFIC QUAKE ANIMALS

Our priority now is on housing the remaining 16 dogs from the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, many of whom have owners, but who are unable to take them back. The area (land) where the Earthquake dogs are now housed, has been rented for many years but now due to changing circumstances of the owners, is due to be returned to them. That means there is some urgency in building new kennels for them in Sasayama. Your continuing support is appreciated.
